Back in 2021, Microsoft announced that Microsoft Intune would get driver management and integration for the new Microsoft Store. For a long time, however, there was no significant news until new developments and first release dates were announced on October 25, 2022 at The Microsoft Technical Takeoff: Windows and Microsoft Intune online event, which is currently taking place from October 24 to 28.
Microsoft Intune Driver Management
With Driver Management you have control over which drivers, on which devices, should be installed at what time. Currently, a limited private preview is taking place and work is still being done on the reporting function. A public release is planned for Q2/2023.

Integration for the new Microsoft Store
Using the Windows Package Manager Framework, it will be possible to distribute both Microsoft Store and Private Repository apps via Intune. The technical feature behind the framework is Winget.

By default Winget uses two sources:
- Microsoft Store (msstore) application source
- Microsoft Community (winget) application source
It is also possible to use self hosted rest application sources.

In Microsoft Intune, there will be a new app category Microsoft Store Repository that can be used to distribute Microsoft Store (winget) apps.

The feature is currently in private preview. A public release is scheduled for 2022! The legacy Microsoft Store (MSfB) will be retired in Q1/2023.
